We all know that we need to prepare a speech carefully. We research the facts, use vivid words and sentences, rehearse in front of a mirror and family. That is not all for a captivating presentation, there is more. We need to consider the audience, what they expect from us, what they want or don’t want and who they are? You have the bodies in the room. What you must do is to capture the interest, the hearts and minds of your audience. Give them something to learn, to think, feel, and if possible do….When you are finally at the lectern or podium, stop for a moment and look at all the eyes gazing at you, are you open for the messages they send your way? Are they cold or too hot. Can they hear you. Are they tired or ready for your presentation. Remember when you speak, it is not about you, it is about them. Be audience-centered!
